Grandparents play a big role in our children’s lives, and they can be wonderful partners on the trail toward reaching reading goals. During our Read-A-Thon, they can help cheer on your young reader by supporting your child’s reading goal with a donation.
To make it easy for them to join the ride, we’ve included a link below that you can use to quickly email grandparents and invite them to support our fundraiser:

S.S. Dixon Primary PTO has decided to host a Read-A-Thon this year, and we’re inviting our families to saddle up and ride with us! Get ready to mosey on down the trail and help support our amazing teachers. Our Read-A-Thon kicks off Monday, April 6, 2025.
Circle the wagons! All money raised goes directly to our school PTO, which funds teacher appreciation activities throughout the year and fulfills specific classroom needs.
Partner up, partners! This year, our school is teaming up with the Jay Rodeo. Every child who participates in Read-A-Thon will earn a ticket to the rodeo on April 24 or 25. Students will also be invited to participate in mutton bustin’—an experience sure to be wilder than the Wild West!
We will also be hosting author and illustrator Nick Mask who will read his children’s book “Wild West Waffles” and teach every student how to draw his adventurous kitty. Look out for an opportunity to purchase signed copies of his books for your home library. Any student who purchases a book will be invited to have lunch with the author in the library.
Strike gold! Along with the rodeo ticket, students will have a chance to win a prize pack for most minutes read each day, prizes from the Read-A-Thon online store based on money raised, and other classroom participation prizes throughout the event.
We encourage everyone to activate their student’s Read-A-Thon account as soon as possible. Your student’s account will be home base for tracking their reading progress throughout the event and for sharing their Read-A-Thon message with friends and family near and far. This is Jennifer Hendricks, Assistant Principal with SS Dixon Primary School, with an important message for parents and families. We are conducting a lockdown drill at school today as part of our regular emergency drill process as required by state law. We know that drills can cause possible concerns for our students, but we believe it’s important for them to know exactly what to do in an emergency and these practice drills enhance their safety. Again, all students are safe, and this is simply a required lockdown drill.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
